“Reflective Essay 1: Diagnostic Test”

Reading and writing require a lot of practice in order for your skills to improve further. I am exposed to reading and writing English all my life; thus, I can read and write English fluently. Even though I know how to read and write, I lack the drive and passion to excel to further improve my skills as well as practice reading written articles in my excess time. I am not fond of reading that much, that is why I have a hard time in understanding some words that are not familiar. I also need to improve with my spelling on some words I am not familiar with. I have not heard much about this subject, ENGLCOM, which is why I do not expect much at all. I have heard that ENGLCOM is an easy subject to pass; however, I feel that this subject will challenge me in terms of my reading and writing skills since I am not fond of those activities.

At first, I expected that this subject will focus more on grammar, reading, and speeches. I feel fortunate and relieved at the same time when I discovered that it will not tackle speeches. I also expect that ENGLCOM will make me improve on my writing techniques and teach me efficient and faster reading skills. I expect to have book reviews and a lot of story telling since this subject focuses on those areas. I agree that this subject will aid me in achieving my goals in the long run because the field of business requires a lot of good communication among other companies as well as the employees within and also a better understanding between the customers. ENGLCOM will help us future businessmen and entrepreneurs to have the desirable communication traits and a better understanding and comprehension in reading important documents that inform us about our field of business. Since ENGLCOM focuses fully on the English language, this subject will further enhance our English reading, writing as well as our communicative skills. If we consider building up a multi-national company, we won’t have a hard time in communicating since English is considered the language of the world. This course will help me be a better communicator, the factor that will affect the progress of my business firm.
